Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing is a computer printing technique which uses heat to transfer dye onto materials such as a plastic, card, paper, or fabric. The sublimation name was first applied because the dye was considered to make the transition between the solid and gas states without going through a liquid stage.

We can offer full colour sublimation printing for all your full colour and photographic images. We can only print on white or light items – as there is no white ink in this process, and can only print on items prepared with a sublimation coating especially for this process.

Our sublimation printer uses CMYK colour schemes, and we try to get the colours as close to possible to your designs, although some variations may occur. Each item is individually made to your specifications.

DTG Printing

A shirt printed with DTG technology

Direct-to-garment printing (DTG) is a process of printing on textiles using specialized aqueous ink jet technology. Direct-to-garment, or DTG, sprays the ink onto the garment. The ink then soaks into the fibres of the garment. It’s like printing on paper, but on clothing. Once the print is completed, the ink is cured under heat.

For black and dark colours DTG requires that the garment be pre-treated with a pre-treatment machine allowing for the following:

Stronger bond between garment fibres and the pigmented inks
Lays down loose fibres to provide for a smoother substrate
Chemically reacts with the inks to promote drying and curing

Since this is a digital process the print has a higher resolution and is sharper than traditional printing methods such as screen printing.

This is suitable for full colour images, and works best on natural fabrics.

Screen Printing

2-colour screen printed "Rangda" shirt

Screen printing is the process of pressing ink through a stencilled mesh screen to create a printed design. It’s a popular technique used in a whole range of different industries, so even if you’ve never heard of the term before today, it’s likely that you’ve worn or used a screen-printed product at some point without even realising.

All our screen-printing is done individually by hand. We can print up to 6 colours on one design. This means not all artwork is suitable for screen printing (e.g. images over 6 colours, colour gradients, photographs etc.) Each colour, for each design, needs its own screen set up for print. We stock most basic colours and match to your artwork to the best of our ability. We can order in special Pantone colours if needed, for an additional cost.

We use Water-based inks which tend to be more subtle and sit in the fabric, giving a lovely natural finish, or Plastisol inks – which are much more vibrant and sit on the fabric and really stand out well.

Embroidery

An assortment of embroidered hats and masks

Embroidery is defined as the art of decorating fabrics using a needle and thread. We have a state-of-the-art Brother embroidery machine, which allows up to 6 colours per design. We stock a selection of basic coloured threads, but can match specific colours if needed, for additional cost. Each item is individually made to your specifications.

We can embroider any text, limited by the size of the work area, and it is possible to embroider your own designs, although as colours are limited this works better for some designs than for others. Please see our artwork guidelines for best results.

Our embroiderer, Daisy Mae, is available to help you with designs, ideas, placement, colours or any other queries.
